The Mallorca Marriott Son Antem begins the summer season with a new and improved look and a completely new addition to its facilities. The hotel’s lobby and the El Olivar Restaurant have both been renovated and we are excited to announce the opening of a relaxing chill-out patio, as the latest addition to our bar, which has also been upgraded. One of the most popular and internationally renowned designers, Harry Asbeck, combined the latest trends with the hotel’s own character to give these public areas of our hotel a stunning makeover.  

 Jorg Meile, General Manager of the resort, is excited about the changes and explained “We selected warm, inviting colours and contemporary stylish furnishings for the redesign, reflecting a traditional Mediterranean Finca Style”.

The Christmas Party held in honour of the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa Associates was blessed with a great atmosphere, delicious food and great music.

The Christmas Party took place last week in the Son Antem Ball Room. An additional table had to be set up because so many associates came to the party. There was a fantastic festive ambience and the kitchen team prepared a delicious buffet for the occasion.

After the Hotel Director’s speech, awards were presented to associates who did an especially great job over the last few months. The Associates of the Year were also honoured. Afterwards, the long-awaited raffle took place. The Executive Team drew lots and presented the prizes. Some of the most coveted prizes were a TV, weekend hotel stays at European destinations and a central heating device (even Mallorca gets cold weather!)

The less formal part of the evening started with DJ Rafa, who put on some music and got people on the dance floor. What time the party actually ended, we really do not know.

To improve animal welfare, it takes a lot of commitment and animal love. The Son Antem cat project is a positive example of animal protection which depends on continuous donations.

The Son Antem Resort used to be farm land with hunting ground and animals. Many animals are therefore still around, especially the cats. To control the cat population in the resort and improve their quality of life, the cat project was born.

 Mr. & Mrs. Déak, Marriott Vacation Club Owners, and Katrin Gebhardt created this project.

Katrin passes by every day to the 10 feeding stations in the complex and to make sure they get the medication they need. Mr. & Mrs. Déak support her every time they visit Son Antem. In addition, the SOS-Animal Association in Calvià, supported by a non-profit organization “Europäischer Tier- und Naturschutz” (ETN), is co-operating with the castration of the animals.

This project is entirely financed by donations. Resort guests can support the project with donations to guarantee the success and continuity. Collection boxes are placed at the hotel reception and at the cash point by the Market Place.

This summer the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa’s summer restaurant, Oh-Chaa, has been offering a delicious menu composed of typical Thai dishes.

Oh-Chaa is a small but chic restaurant (only 8 tables) located inside a marquee and surrounded by the Son Antem gardens. The Chefs cook in an open air kitchen and all the guests can see how they prepare all the exquisite Thai dishes. These are some of the appetizers:  fried jumbo prawns, papaya salad with coconut and typical Thai chicken skewers.

I myself had the pleasure of dining at this Thai Restaurant last week and I have to say that all the dishes were spectacular, both from the point of view of taste and presentation. I strongly recommend you have a meal at Oh-Chaa if you are coming to the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem Resort.

I would also like to take this opportunity, to encourage the Son Antem Resort staff in charge of the restaurant program for next summer to read this post and to introduce more Thai dishes at Oh-Chaa Restaurant next year. They are simply delicious and not to be missed!

During the summer of 2010 and until the end of September enjoy a tasting dinner at our Thai or Japanese restaurants with your friends or your couple for only €39 per person (Drinks not included). Discover all the Japanese and Thai dishes we offer you.

Heiwa is the Sushi Cuisine Restaurant at Marriott Son Antem- Mallorca.  Heiwa means “Peace” and that is what you will find in this restaurant located inside our Marquee on the hotel terrace, all shrouded in a very relaxing atmosphere. The Japanese menu includes three courses and dessert:

1^st course: Selection of traditional Japanese appetizers

2^nd course: Chicken and prawn soup

3^rd course: Selection of sushi, nigiri, sashimi and special rolls

Dessert: you can choose between green tea ice cream, red bean ice cream or sake sorbet.

Oh-Chaa is the Thai Cuisine Restaurant at Marriott Son Antem-Mallorca.  Oh-Chaa means “Delicious” and we can assure you that the cuisine prepared here by our chef is delicious, as well as being sweet, spicy, sour, bitter and salty all at once. The Thai menu includes an appetizer, a three course menu and dessert:

Appetizer: Prawn and sesame toasts with three sauces

1^st course: Selection of traditional appetizers

2^nd course: Cold lemongrass and coconut soup with lime sorbet

3^rd course: you can choose between:

• Grilled aromatic chicken with sautéed seeds and vegetables
• Fillet steak with curried aubergine
• Fillet of red mullet with prawns, tamarind and green beans with a touch of lemon

Dessert: mango and lime cream

With more than 20 golf courses and a good network of flight connections, Mallorca is one of the most popular golf destinations in Europe. Our two 18 hole Son Antem Golf Courses are surrounded by nature and our Golf Academy offers classes for beginners and experienced players.

Our two golf courses are only 5 minutes away if you are staying at the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa. The East Course was built on an old hunting property and you will see plenty of birds and other animals during your golf round. People say that the east course with its wide fairways and flat greens is more suitable for beginners and intermediate players but many experienced players also enjoy playing this course.

The Championship Course Son Antem West is more challenging and has breathtaking views of the Randa mountain. Golfers need a handicap of 35 (ladies) and 27 (gentlemen) to play the course. In November last year one of the PGA Tour of Spain Tournaments took place here. We were delighted to host one of the most important national golf tournaments in the world, this time won by Jesús María Arruti.

Marriott Son Antem offers a wide variety of restaurants as well as two bars. Each establishment is unique; the resort offers a dining experience for every occasion.

Below we explain a little about each restaurant and give you some practical information:

1. El Olivar Restaurant. Mediterranean food.  Open the whole year round.

Elegant atmosphere enhanced by lovely views of the terrace and gardens. It is perfect for a meal with friends and for enjoying a wide range of dining options in a beautiful setting.

There is a buffet which changes daily. During summer enjoy special entertainment and shows in the evenings.

Opening hours:

• Breakfast: every day 07:00 – 11:00.
• Dinner:  every day
  • Buffet:  19:00 – 23:00.

2. El Patio Restaurant.  Mediterranean food à la carte. Outdoor   restaurant, so only open in the summer.

Decorated with lots of candles which create a very romantic ambience. Perfect for a special occasion with your loved one.

Opening hours:

• Dinner: every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays 19:30 – 23:00. (seasonal)

3. Oh-Chaa and Heiwa are two restaurants in one. Depending on the day of the week we offer you Japanese or Thai  food.  Seasonal, open from May to September, depending on the weather.

Located in our Marquee on the hotel terrace.

During 2010 there is a special menu offer of €39 per person (drinks not included) which includes both Japanese (Heiwa Restaurant) and Thai (Oh-Chaa Restaurant) food, a three course meal and dessert.

Opening hours:

• Oh-Chaa (Thai): Monday and Tuesday 19:30 – 23:00 (seasonal)
• Heiwa (Japanese):  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 19:30 – 23:00. (seasonal)

4. La Vista Verde Restaurant.  International food. Serving appetizing pizza, burgers, pasta and “tapas”. Located in the golf clubhouse, it offers a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

Opening hours:

• Every day:  10:00 – 23:00

Son Antem Resort has 2 bars:

1. El Patio Lobby Bar. Open the whole year. Here you can relax with a refreshing drink, sparkling cocktails, snacks and Spanish tapas.

We strongly recommend you try the Son Antem Cocktail, it will surprise you.

Opening hours:

• Every day:  11:00 – 01:00.
• Happy Hour:  18:00 – 19:00.

2. Es Trenc Pool Bar. Seasonal, only opens from May to September (depending on the weather). As indicated by its name, it is situated by the swimming-pool. It serves light snacks, salads and refreshing drinks.

Opening hours:

• Every day:  11:00 – 18:00.
• Happy Hour:  17:00 – 18:00.

We are very excited to be launching the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa official blog. Our 5 star resort is a paradise for active travelers. We have two 18 hole golf courses, a complete spa with more than 30 different treatments on the menu, as well as 5 different restaurants and bars.

Our blog launch happily coincides with our 10th anniversary, and has two main objectives:

1. To reach out to our existing customers and potential guests as well as all our friends and family and involve them in everything going on at our wonderful resort.
2. To be nearer to all of you, and receive any feedback you may have so that we can grow and always improve our services.
