San Sebastian is the patron saint of Palma. The city celebrates its saint with a programme of events and celebrations which take place over two weeks.

From the 15th to the 21st of January concerts are held at all the main squares around Palma. One of the most popular bands is Mago de Oz, performing at the Plaza España on the 22nd of January. On the 19th of January people can barbecue on fires set up by the town hall at the city’s squares or ‘plazas’. This is a very popular custom followed not only by locals but also by Spaniards from the mainland as well as foreign residents on the island. One of the highlights will be the traditional dragons and devils show; the devils dance through the streets sprouting fireworks, and the sound and light show held on the 22nd of January which starts at 21:00 and illuminates the facade of Palma´s Cathedral.
