Karen Margrethe Juul was staying at the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa in November with a ladies golf group from Denmark. Following she describes the impressions after the first day.

All the girls arrived from Denmark on Sunday afternoon and were checked-in at Marriott Son Antem Golf Resort & Spa. Most of them were tired after the long journey that began at 5 am. at Kastrup airport, but a few very enthusiastically hurried out on the practice facilities.

I arrived a little later as I came from India, so I just had the time to say hello to all the girls before I passed out in my bed. Usually in regards to Spanish beds you think of a sheet and a blanket, but here in the Marriott, we have a soft bed with an amazing feather comforter. I slept like a baby after the long journey from Delhi.
Monday we had breakfast at 8 am, and we were surprised by a breakfast buffet with everything your heart – or should I say stomach – could desire. With a long day in front of us we needed a lot of energy, though.

At 9 am. all the girls started hitting balls at the driving range, and I had a good look at each individual swing. Most of the girls are swinging it really well, but there is also room for improvement. Fortunately we had a space reserved for us at range.
We had a short lunch, before playing the West course at around 13 o’clock. It’s not a very long course, but it’s narrow and has some very challenging holes.

I thought it was a perfect course for the girls to play, and even though the greens were a little spiked up late in the afternoon, they were still very fast. The last group didn’t have time to finish the 18 th hole, because of darkness, but apart from that I think the girls had a wonderful day.

Everyone was well used after a long and inspiring day, so we had the Spanish menu at the hotel. Everyone had their stories from the day, so there was a lot of golf talk going on. Marianne Lauritsen was chosen as “Today’s Winner”. Not because she shoot the lowest score, but because she made a birdie, where I only made par, and because she was sent away from the range to take a mental break, and she did that immediately without complaining and came back a lot better.

Mallorca weather patterns are typical of a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters.  The island receives around 300 days of sunshine per year and never experiences extreme temperatures.

During autumn the weather in Mallorca is characterized for being warm, rainy but still sunny. In September it is still warm enough for lounging on the beach and even swimming, with an average temperature during the day of 27˚C.

October in Mallorca is the wettest month of the year, but the rainfall is concentrated in heavy showers with the sun normally coming out again soon after.  During this month Mallorca enjoys an average of seven hours of sunshine a day.

During November, Mallorca weather shows an average high temperature of 18˚C and rain showers are still quite common.

From the point of view of holidays, autumn is the perfect time to come to Mallorca if you want to avoid the crowds. It is the season for walking, cycling, enjoying the outdoors, and discovering the mountainous areas of the island; temperatures are still warm but without being hot and the sun still shines most of the time.

There are lots of activities on offer for your holidays in Mallorca during the autumn months. In September you can still go to the beach and enjoy sunbathing and swimming. October and November are the best times to discover the village markets. During these two months there is a different celebration or market going on every weekend: the olive festival in Caimari, Dijous Bo in Inca, Fira de Sant Miquel in Llucmajor, and the wine festival in Consell are just some examples.

And if none of these activities convince you, you can always go shopping and for a special treat you can book a personal shopper who can show you the best shops in Palma. Please let us know if you would like to receive more information.

And if it is a grey, rainy day, you can always delight yourself with a relaxing and rejuvenating day in our Son Antem Spa.

The new website gives you a good overview of the El Olivar Restaurant and its outlets as well as the menus on offer and any other practical information you may need.
