Spa Mallorca Marriott Resort Son Antem- Herbal Garden

Spa Son Antem Mallorca is proud to announce the opening of its very own Aromatic Herbal Garden. Although in its primary stages, the garden will prove to be a gem in this oasis of relaxation.

The idea for the creation of the Herbal Garden comes from Spa Manager Rob Snaith. Having become bored of the current global trend in Spas of focusing on Asia as the basis for Spa philosophy and décor, he has decided that it is time for a change. 2010 will be the year of a new brand marketing project at the Son Antem Spa. The goal of the project is to convert it into a more natural and Mediterranean Spa and “to be true to the local culture and surroundings“. The creation of the Herbal Garden will allow the spa to use home grown products in its treatments, thus allowing our guests to have a true taste of Mallorca.

The Spa Herbal garden has been created and constructed by our Grounds Department led by Javier Nuñez. The garden hosts the following plants, to name just a few; lavender, rose marie, lemon grass, chamomile, rosemary, mint, lavender, aloe vera, saffron, and curry.

The first of our home grown herbs to find its way into the treatment room is Lavender in our Spring Collection “Lavender Scrub“. Lavender has a naturally calming effect which can help in relaxation and the reduction of anxiety; it is also seen as an effective antidote against headaches. It is also very interesting to note that Lavender is a great natural mosquito repellent (very beneficial during this time of the year).
